Broken Airend Castings - Has This Ever Happened to You

We receive airends quite often that have been deemed unrepairable by other airend rebuilders. When we slid the cylinder off this one, it was pretty clear that, once again, the worst damage was done at the repair shop, not in the compressor’s operation.
In an attempt to push out the male rotor which had seized to the inlet housing, the repair house used too much press and too little preparation, resulting in a blown apart inlet bearing seat and housing. With no reference to how the damage occurred, they announced to their customer that the airend could not be repaired. This casting could still be repaired, but at higher cost than if it were correctly disassembled.
Following are some steps in the process of repair of this expensive (and not sold separately) bearing housing. This repair required replacement of the entire bearing seat.

Most of our employees have been working in their field for 30 or more years. Perhaps that just makes us a bunch of old guys.
But at Air Compressor Technology, Inc. we have developed non destructive techniques to disassemble and repair seized airends, replace broken shafts, and replace rotor sealing strips saving you money and keeping you in control of the situation. We also have the largest inventory in the business of remanufactured and rebuildable core airends, new and used gear sets, gasket sets, shaft seals and bearing kits.
Unlike some of our competitors, we don’t pay a 5% commission to a salesman for your order. We do however, offer very competitive prices and a 5% discount for payment within 10 days.
We usually do not charge for evaluations, and we do stand behind our work. References available upon request.
